ADIAS carried out an initial archaeological survey of Dalma
island in 1992. A total of more than 20 archaeological sites were
identified on the island, ranging in time from the Neolithic (Late Stone
Age) to important early twentieth century buildings.
A brief description of these important early twentieth century buildings
is provided in King (1998). Information on the
architecture and layout of the Bayt
al-Muraykhî house is shortly about to be published (King, in press).
More detailed
information on the three mosques is currently being prepared for publication
as part of a larger project on the mosques of Abu Dhabi (King forthcoming).
Dr Geoffrey King and Dr Mark Beech visited Dalma island on 10-11
April 2004. The following guided tours of the three mosques were filmed
by Dr Mark Beech. Dr Geoffrey King provides commentary on the english
language versions, and Fathy Mohammed Abdullah, curator of the Bayt
al-Muraykhi Museum from Dalma Public Works Department, provides arabic
commentary on the film of the Al Muhannadi mosque.
