Where is the
exhibition being held?
The exhibition is located in the entrance foyer of the main headquarters
building of the Abu Dhabi Islands Archaeological Survey
(ADIAS) and the Environment Agency
- Abu Dhabi (formerly known as the Environmental Research and Wildlife
Development Agency - ERWDA) in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. This
is located in the Khalidiya district of Abu Dhabi, not far from the
junction of the Corniche and Khaleej Al-Arabi (30th) street.

How long is
the exhibition open for?
The exhibition was officially inaugurated by Majid Al Mansouri,
Secretary-General of the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi on Saturday
26th November 2005. Click

It is a permanent display. Visitors are welcome to visit during normal
working hours.

Who made the
exhibition?
The exhibition was designed by Dr
Mark Beech and Will Higgs from the Abu
Dhabi Islands Archaeological Survey (ADIAS), together with Abdul Hafiz
from the Private Department of His Highness the
President.
Conservation and preparation of the fossils so that they
were suitable for display was by Nigel Larkin (Natural-History-Conservation.com,
U.K.).
Construction of the actual display was undertaken by
Abdul and Izhar Hafiz and their team from the Private Department of His
Highness the President. Wood working and construction of the display was
by Al Maraj Carpentry (Mussafah, Abu Dhabi). Manufacture of the numbered blocks and
printing of the fossil labels was by Panorama Arts (Abu Dhabi).
The
scale model of the ancient elephant, Stegotetrabelodon syrticus,
was constructed by Abdul Hafiz and his team from the Private Department of
His Highness the President. Dr Mark Beech (ADIAS) acted as scientific
advisor.
The background diorama "Abu Dhabi 8 million years ago" was
painted by Gemma Goodall (Antares
Designs, U.K.) as three separate panels. Digital photography,
stitching and editing of this painting was made by Gulf Colour Film
(Salaam Street, Abu Dhabi). The final picture was printed and mounted
inside the display by Riaz Ahmed Advertising & Neon Co. (Khalidiyah,
Abu Dhabi).
Arabic translation of the exhibition display panels,
fossil labels and exhibition leaflet was by Tariq Faham (Senior
Translator, Emirates News Agency WAM, Ministry of Information and
Culture). The arabic text was subsequently revised by Ahmad Alshemari and
Hamid Almutairi (National Museum of Kuwait) and Wafa Mordaa (ADCO, Abu
Dhabi).
